MENTAL TOUGHNESS
What Is Mental Toughness?
Mental toughness is the ability to stay focused, calm and determined when things get hard, and to keep going when quitting would be easier. It is not about never feeling fear, doubt or pain. It is about feeling them and showing up anyway.
In the ring, mental toughness is what keeps your hands up in the last round when your arms are tired. Outside the ring, it is what gets you through a hard diagnosis, a tough season at work, a breakup, or a morning when you don't want to train.
The good news: mental toughness is a skill, not something you're born with. Like a jab, it gets stronger with practice.
The four parts of mental toughness
-
Confidence: believing you can handle what's in front of you
-
Focus: staying in the moment instead of getting lost in worry or distraction
-
Resilience: bouncing back from setbacks, bad days and mistakes
-
Self-control: managing stress, emotions and your breathing under pressure
Dig deep and be first, be last.
Mental Toughness Plans
A mental toughness plan is one-on-one coaching that trains your mind the way we train your body: step by step, with practice between sessions. Coaching is virtual by Zoom, FaceTime or phone, scheduled between 5am and 10pm.
It's for fighters getting ready for a bout, athletes who freeze under pressure, and anyone facing a hard season of life, including people living with illness, injury or chronic pain.
Every plan includes
-
A starting conversation about where you are, what's holding you back, and what you want to change
-
A personal game plan with clear goals for your training, your sport or your daily life
-
Practical tools you'll use every day: breathing to calm your nerves, positive self-talk, visualization, and pre-workout or pre-fight routines
-
Weekly practice between sessions, like short journaling prompts and focus drills
-
Check-ins to track your progress and adjust the plan
-
Fight and competition prep for boxers and athletes: handling nerves, staying composed between rounds, and bouncing back from a loss
Mental toughness coaching can stand alone or be added to any training or nutrition package. Paired with the 90-day package, it builds the mindset that keeps your new routine going long after the program ends.
